Server Update
Shockwave and Dummy Hunt, two new drones, squads, Parts, redesigned menus and a move to new servers.
This started as a server move and ended up being a much bigger update. We added two game modes, two drones, squads, a new currency and rebuilt most of the menus.
Shockwave
Crash into dummies and send them flying! Each impact creates a shockwave, with faster and closer hits doing more damage. Hit several dummies at once for a multiplier.
You have 30 seconds of flight to score as much damage as possible. Crashes get a slow-motion replay, which pauses the timer before putting you back on the takeoff pad.
Dummy Hunt
Shoot dummies with a laser, or fly straight into them. Headshots score the most points. You have 30 seconds to get the highest score you can.
Hold Interact to fire. The first time you enter Dummy Hunt, the game helps you set up the binding on your keyboard or controller.
Both modes unlock at pilot level 3 and have their own entrances on the map, leaderboards and personal bests. Races now unlock at level 2.
Hunter and Blast
Two new drones join the fleet:
- Hunter, equipped with a laser for Dummy Hunt.
- Blast, built for crashing into dummies in Shockwave.
These drones are used in their respective modes. Leaving a run puts you back in your usual drone.
Each has its own mastery progression. Finish official runs to earn mastery XP and unlock modules for three slots: Drive, Tool and Handling. Change how the drone flies, how it handles or how its laser or shockwave works.
Mastery also unlocks cosmetic rewards and workshop components you can buy with Parts. Manage your modules and appearance in Gear.
Activities on your own maps
You can now build Shockwave and Dummy Hunt courses in the map editor. Place a takeoff pad, an entrance and your dummies, then publish the activity.
- Up to 2 courses of each mode per map, with up to 24 dummies per course.
- Published activities have their own leaderboards and personal bests.
- Changing the course resets its leaderboard, with a warning before you save.
Community activities don't award XP, mastery or currency.
Squads
Fly with up to three friends in a squad. Invite them from your friends list or share an invite link.
Everyone's drone appears together in the main menu. The leader picks the map, the others ready up, and the squad joins the same lobby. You can also join your squad if they're already flying.
Parts
Parts are the new currency earned by playing. Achievements and weekly challenges now reward Parts instead of Credits. Official Shockwave and Dummy Hunt runs also count toward a new activity route on weekly challenge cards.
Spend Parts on Uncommon skins, world themes, boosters and Hunter and Blast workshop components. Parts can't be bought with money.
Credits remain the paid currency. You keep all the Credits and items you already have.
You can hold up to 10,000 Parts. Anything earned above that waits in your wallet for you to claim after spending some.
Shop
The shop has a new layout, larger item previews and a choice of Parts or Credits on eligible items.
We also updated cosmetic prices:
- Uncommon: 300 Credits or 1,500 Parts.
- Rare: 800 Credits.
- Epic: 1,200 Credits.
- Legendary: 1,800 Credits.
If you previously paid more Credits for an item than its new price, the difference is refunded to your wallet. Players with a qualifying purchase made with real money before our October 2 announcement also receive 300 Credits as a thank you.
If your first real-money purchase is a standard Credit pack, it includes 50% extra Credits, up to 1,000 bonus Credits. Card payments start at $2.
Menus and settings
Most of the menus received a full redesign:
- A new main menu with your selected map in the background and your squad's drones on display.
- A rebuilt Gear page for drone selection, cosmetics, modules and mastery.
- Updated official and community map browsers, with 3D community map previews.
- A new settings layout with search, clearer control bindings, calibration and rate tuning.
- Separate audio controls and an option to reduce motion.
- Activity personal bests in your Pilot Record.
Gridworks is now called Playground.
Inbox and gifts
There is now an in-game inbox for announcements, rewards and gifts.
You can also subscribe to game update emails. Come back on a later day and check your inbox for a 160 Parts gift, available when you opt in.
New servers
Flight Division has moved to new servers in the United States and Europe. Flight, race times and rewards are now checked by the game servers.
- Free flight lobbies support up to 32 pilots.
- Other pilots' movements update more smoothly.
- Drones pass through each other, so another pilot can't knock you off course.
- If servers are unavailable, you can fly in offline practice. Progress isn't saved while offline.
- Only one game tab can be active per account. Opening another lets you switch to it.
You will need to sign in again with your email. Your account progress and purchases carry over. Old guest sessions can't be carried over.
Leaderboard reset
All race leaderboards, personal bests and race ghosts are reset with this update. New times will be recorded by the game servers.
Other changes
- Pausing during a race restarts the run at the start pad.
- Map boundaries now give you a countdown to turn back, then respawn you inside the map.
- Improved dummy models and the new activity drones' geometry.
- Fixed replays using the wrong drone or activity after a rewind.
- Fixed duplicate replay saves and replay map loading.
- Improved shop loading and reduced background requests while playing.
